Chase Lane
Primary School

" I always try my very very best at everything "

School Dinners

The school provides healthy meals each day at a cost of £2.20 per day.

Our parents are requested to pay for their children's school meals via ParentPay as we are aiming to become a cashless school.

All Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children currently receive Free School Meals

Mrs Grist, in the school office, administers our school meals and packed lunches and can be contacted for further information.  She can also give advice and information on Free School Meal entitlements.

The school cooks liaise with the Head Teacher and work hard to ensure that school dinners at Chase Lane Primary School are healthy, varied, nutritious and balanced.  All food is freshly made each day, including pizza, quiche, lasagne, pasta, curry.  A salad bar is also available each day.  Desserts include fruit, yoghurt, sponge pudding, custard, cheese and biscuits.

Families who choose to provide a packed lunch for children are encouraged to provide healthy options - sweets and fizzy drinks are not permitted and low fat alternatives to crisps and snacks are encouraged.

The Head Teacher, Deputy Head or a senior member of teaching staff are always in attendance at lunchtime, as well as a number of experienced Midday Assistants, and children are always encouraged to eat their main course and savoury items first, saving their dessert to the end!

Healthy treats!

As part of a government scheme, free fruit is provided for Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 children so they have access to a piece of fruit such as apples, bananas, tangerines etc or vegetables such as carrots or tomatoes every morning and often in the afternoon too. The children greatly enjoy this healthy treat. In Key Stage 2 children are able to buy fruit at morning break time.

In the Nursery Unit, children are also provided with free milk each day.
